Great post. I've recently noticed more and more local business owners not knowing a lot of the basic information about their business.

I was helping a friend who was running a Burger business. He was burning through cash. I asked him the question "How many cheeseburgers do you have to sell a day to break even?" He said "I don't know. I have no idea." My plan was to create a plan to get him 30% above his break even number. However, he didn't know where that was.

I ran into the owner of a Pizza Franchise here in Sacramento. The place was empty when I was talking with him. I asked him the same question "How many Pizza's do you have to sell a day to break even?" He said "I don't know. I have no idea"

By the way, both business owners spent all of their home equity to learn the "metric" business lesson.
